What is Alopecia Areata?
An autoimmune disorder, alopecia areata can lead to unpredictable hair loss. While the hair loss is typically in round, bald spots on the scalp, it can be found in all areas of the body in severe cases. Alopecia can affect anyone, regardless of age, gender or race, though most cases develop before the age of 30.
Alopecia Areata Treatment
While there is currently no cure for alopecia areata, there are multiple treatment options to help patients regrow their hair. Depending on the severity, Dr. Kingsley recommends topical creams, injectable steroids and oral medications to patients dealing with this condition.
