What are Dermatofibromas?

Dermatofibromas are firm, scar-like bumps that appear on the skin. They typically form as part of the healing process following a bug bite or inflamed hair follicle. Commonly found on the arms, legs and back, these growths range in size from .5 to 1.5 centimeters. Although they are usually harmless, dermatofibromas may occasionally be itchy, tender and inflamed. If the condition becomes painful or rapidly changes, patients should see a dermatologist for evaluation.
