What is a Fungal Infection?

Fungal infections (also known as tinea infections) are caused by a fungus easily spread from direct skin-to-skin contact. Fungal infections can affect any part of the body and are categorized based on their location. Symptoms may not occur until a few days or up to two weeks after being in contact with the fungus. Types of fungal infections include ringworm (tinea corporis), athlete’s foot (tinea pedis), jock itch (tinea cruris) and scalp ringworm (tinea capitis).

Fungal Infection Treatment

The clinical presentation of the fungal infection depends on where it is located on the body. Dr. Kingsley uses topical and oral anti-fungal medications to treat the infections.
