What is Hyperhidrosis?
Sweating is a natural process the body needs to cool down and release toxins. However, some people sweat even when their body doesn’t need it. Hyperhidrosis is a medical condition that causes excessive sweating not necessarily related to heat or exercise. While hyperhidrosis can affect any part of the body, it is most often found in the armpits, palms and soles of feet. Symptoms can range from constant visible sweating to skin infections like athlete’s foot.
Hyperhidrosis Treatment
Treatment options to combat hyperhidrosis at home include topical therapy such as over the counter and prescription deodorants, solutions with aluminum chloride and oral medication. There are also additional treatment procedures with the purpose of destroying sweat glands. These include Botox®, Brella™, iontophoresis, sympathectomy and radiofrequency microneedling. MK Dermatology offers SylfirmX radiofrequency microneedling.
