What is Molluscum Contagiosum?
Molluscum contagiosum is a skin infection most common among children. Caused by a virus, molluscum contagiosum presents itself as small, pink, dome-shaped bumps on the skin.
This condition is contagious and easily spread by direct skin-to-skin contact.
Molluscum Contagiosum Treatment
In some cases, molluscum contagiosum will clear up on its own with time. Infections can clear within six to nine months or longer, depending on the case. Dr. Kingsley usually treats molluscum bumps with beetle juice (cantharidin or liquid nitrogen) to help clear them. For the treatment to be effective, she recommends a series of treatments until they are clear.
