What are Warts?

Common benign growths, warts are the result of the human papillomavirus (HPV). These small skin growths are typically located on fingers and hands and are easily spread through direct skin-to-skin contact, especially when there are open cracked areas on the skin allowing the virus to enter.

The virus is often caught when walking barefoot in a public shower or pool. It can take two to six months to develop after your skin has been exposed.

Wart Treatment

In most cases, warts are harmless and usually heal on their own. Treatments include over-the-counter medications and in-office dermatology treatments like liquid nitrogen and laser therapy.
