A keloid is a thick, raised scar, usually on the earlobes, shoulder, cheeks or chest. Keloids vary in size depending on the original injury and growth of the scar.

While a keloid isn’t physically harmful, it can cause emotional distress. Dr. Kingsley performs an excision to remove bothersome keloids.

What to Expect

  • How long does the procedure take?
The procedure can take 30-60 minutes depending on the size and extent of the repair.
  • What does recovery time look like?
Following the procedure, we highly recommend no heavy lifting, no exercise, no submerging in water (no swimming or baths, showers are ok) until the sutures are removed.

    • Ears: 3-5 days

    • Body: 2 weeks
