What is a Chemical Peel?

Chemical peels improve a skin’s appearance and can be performed on the face, neck or hands. The depth of chemical peel depends on the condition of the patient’s skin, which determines the length of procedure and recovery time.

How it Works

During this treatment, a chemical solution is applied to the skin. This solution causes a chemical exfoliation and lifting of the skin which eventually peels off, revealing smoother, brighter skin. Most patients feel a burning or stinging sensation, which resolves by the time you leave the office. This treatment results in several benefits.

What to Expect After Treatment

It is important for patients to limit their time in the sun after a chemical peel due to the increased sensitivity of their skin. When out in the sun, patients should wear a sunscreen rated SPF 30 or higher.
